Hello,
Welcome, and thank you for signing up. You will get one story from the field every morning for seven days, then one a week after that. If daily is too much, choose weekly here and you will still get every story, on Sundays.
Each one is a note I write the same morning. It takes about a minute to read, and none of them will ask you for anything. Here is today's.

The 6 a.m. pickup at Hillcrest Market
I backed the van up to the dock at Hillcrest Market on Ninth Street at 6 this morning. The overnight crew had set aside what would not survive another day on the shelf: forty loaves of bread, three cases of bananas going brown at the stem, a rack of yesterday's rotisserie chickens, two crates of yogurt dated tomorrow. All of it was headed for the dumpster by seven. I weighed it, logged 212 pounds, and drove eleven minutes to the Hollis Park pantry. By 7:30 it was on the shelves. By nine, the first families of the morning were carrying it home. I have done this run four hundred times and that part still gets me.
