The Beckard Review

The whole deliverable, not just the deck.

An illustrative donor review for Beckard Family Mission, a fictitious organization built from synthetic giving records.

One donor file, read three ways. The executive review tells a board what happened and what to decide. The workbook holds every number behind it and the lists a team can work from on Monday. The slide deck is the review again, ready to edit.

The cover of the Beckard Review, a dark blue page reading Beckard's 2024 donors gave $551,000 less in 2025, layered over the giving at a glance page.

What you get

Three files, one donor file, one set of numbers.

Each file answers to a different reader. The figures match across all three, so a board, a development team, and an analyst can work from the same story.

  • PDF · 24 pages

    Executive review

The board-ready review. Each page leads with its finding, and the review ends with a 90-day plan.

  • Excel · 24 tabs

    Donor audit workbook

The numbers behind every page, the scoring model, a scenario model, and three ranked lists of 100 donors.

  • PowerPoint · 24 slides

    Editable slide deck

The same review as native, editable slides with speaker notes, ready to present or to make your own.

Who it is for

A finished set to put in front of the people you serve.

Read it as the deliverable at the end of a real engagement, whether you build reviews for clients or you lead an organization that could ask for one.

  • 01

    Agencies pitching strategy

Walk a prospect through the PDF, then open the workbook to show the work behind every page. The ranked lists turn a finding into next week's mailing.

  • 02

    Leaders briefing a board

Present the editable deck as it stands or swap in your own numbers. Each slide states its point in the headline, so the room reads the argument at a glance.

  • 03

    Development teams

Work the Winback, Upgrade, and Prospect lists. Winback rows carry a reason in plain words and a suggested channel, and the scored-donor tab marks the donors held back to measure the result.

  • 04

    Analysts checking the math

The workbook keeps a methodology tab and live formulas, so every headline can be traced back to the giving records it came from.

Inside the review

A finding on every page, and a plan at the end.

The review moves from the size of the file to who stays, who lapses, and what to do in the next 90 days. The figures below are Beckard's synthetic numbers, taken straight from the review.

What a review surfaces

Beckard's largest donors kept 75% of their giving.

The top 1% of Beckard's 2024 donors kept 75% of their giving in 2025, while everyone else kept 98%. The top 1% kept less than the rest in 12 of 12 years from 2014 to 2025.

A file can look steady on the revenue line while the donors who carry it slowly give less. The review names the loss, sizes it, and puts the 100 donors most likely to give more in front of the development director.

How it is made

One output of an always-on platform.

The Beckard Review is what the DonorInsights platform produces from a gift file: sixty-plus charts across contacts, donations, and campaigns, read into a review a board can act on and lists a team can work. The platform runs every day. The review is the moment it is written down.

  • Connect to any source system

Gift and constituent records come in from the CRM and email tools the organization already uses. No re-keying, no exports by hand.

  • Decades of donor stewardship

The method behind the review has been applied across hundreds of organizations and hundreds of millions of gifts.

  • Numbers you can trust

Every figure traces back to the organization's own giving records, and the review says plainly what the file cannot yet tell you.
